Thailand: The benchmark price for sugarcane during the 25/26 crushing season is set at 890 Thai baht
Release Date:2025-12-02
The Thai Sugar and White Sugar Management Committee announced that the committee meeting held on November 28, 2025, passed a resolution to set the benchmark price of sugarcane for the 2025/26 crushing season (Buddhist calendar 68/69) at 890 baht/ton (corresponding to a sugar content of 10%). At the same time, it is clarified that the fluctuation standard for sugarcane prices is 53.40 baht per 1% sugar content, and the subsidy for sugar production and sales is 381.43 baht per ton. The pricing has completed the public consultation process with sugarcane farmers, sugar mills, and relevant stakeholders in accordance with legal regulations. It will be submitted to the Cabinet for review and officially announced in the Government Gazette after approval.
Previously (8th/2568th meeting), there was a heated disagreement between sugarcane farmers and sugar mills regarding pricing methods: one side advocated for the continuation of a national unified price, while the other proposed the establishment of a dual price system to reflect the quality advantage of higher sugar production rates in some sugarcane price calculation areas. In the end, both parties reached a consensus and still adopted the "national unified price" model. At the same time, most sugar mills agreed to add an additional 40 baht/ton to the sugarcane farmers in the price calculation zones of 1, 3, 6, and 9, in order to alleviate their capital turnover pressure.

Banon, Secretary General of the Thai Sugar and White Sugar Council? Suwanachari stated that the committee has followed the guidance of the Minister of Industry, Tan Gan? Under the guidance of Wang Benkun, multiple measures have been formulated to assist sugarcane farmers, with a core focus on reducing sugarcane burning - this is the key policy direction for the 2025/26 crushing season. According to the PM2.5 pollution control measures approved by the Sugar Management Committee, the daily amount of sugarcane burned in sugar factories shall not exceed 20% of the total crushing volume of the day; Suspend the acceptance and incineration of sugarcane from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026; From the date of extraction until January 10, 2026, only fresh sugarcane will be accepted.
