Thailand's destocking accelerated as exports rose 60 per cent in January from a year earlier

In January 2020, Thailand exported about 755,500 tons of sugar, up 60% year on year. Among them, 462,100 tons of raw sugar were exported, up 54.24% year-on-year, mainly to Indonesia (285,600 tons) and South Korea (124,500 tons). Exports of low-quality white sugar totaled about 44,300 tons, down 5.7% from a year earlier. Exports of refined sugar reached 249,000 tons, up 98.62% year on year, mainly to Cambodia (47,400 tons), Sudan (25,000 tons), Vietnam (21,600 tons) and Guyana (22,000 tons).

Thailand exported 3.5363 million tons of sugar from October 19 to January 20, with a year-on-year increase of 12.4%.
